Memorial Day feels different for me this year.⁣⁣

I don’t know about you, but I’m remembering more people lost to suicide than in combat today.⁣⁣

I have more questions.

⁣⁣I’m thinking about all the men and women who died fighting a silently-failing, 20-year war.

I’m thinking about the 13 young troops lost last August, trying to clean up the mess of the previous generation. ⁣⁣

And the 22 veterans a day we lose to mental health issues at home.⁣⁣

George Patton said, “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.”⁣

But I have to disagree with G on the first part.⁣⁣

I will mourn the men and women who died today ⁣⁣and I will keep questioning why they had to die.
